What You’ll Need
Interested in doing some Clow Card readings, huh? Well, if you came to this page, you must be a bit confused about what you need in order to do so!
You will need the following:
- A quiet room, where you can focus.
- A large table or surface.
- A Clow Card Set OR a Sakura Card Set — or a regular deck of playing cards (remove the jokers)!
If you are looking for a Clow Card deck, there are two places you can find them:
- eBay
- Yahoo! JP Auctions (through Rinkya or another similar service)
Many of the sets on eBay are Chinese bootlegs though, so make sure what you’re getting is official. Otherwise, you may end up with a really cheap quality set (although I’m not sure, I don’t own any of the bootleg sets). In any case, only get one that has the card form images, no character (such as Sakura or Tomoyo) images. Here’s a quick synopsis of the official versions that are out there (click on the link for a picture) in order of quality:
The Japanese Deluxe Clow Card Set (Kodansha), the Sakura Card Set (Bandai) and Sakura Cards + Pouch Set (Bandai), the Japanese Regular Clow Card Set, and the American Clow Card Set.
Basically, anything with an official Bandai label / sticker on it.

well, i can’t really tell… the kanji in my book seems to be japanese, but the quality isn’t that high… well, it’s mediocre you can say… but it has all 52 cards… and thats enough for me… well, thay are sakura cards… so i’ll have to force my dad to buy it for me on ebay!!! lol…
could you print out your own cards and cut them out? I’m planning on getting some proper ones later.
Yeah, that works too, shobob. Especially since they’re getting harder to find. I might try scanning my set in at high resolution and having them available for download… Hm…
I knew I should’ve bought this 7 years ago when I first wanted it. :< Now the JP Deluxe set has become ridiculously priced. I have the American CC set, but… -___-;

I myself printed out the cards onto regular playing cards (resized them of course). It works well, and they’re easy to shuffle to ^_^
But you have to print the card onto the corresponding one, by looking into the fortune book.
I have a Chinese version of the Clow Cards(Don’t know if they’re bootleg, but it does have copyright CLAMP/KODANSHA on the back of the cards.). Does this mean I can’t do accurate readings with them?

I am really interested in this, but… does printing them off and the sticking them onto card really work?
I don’t have paypal, so I can’t buy them off eBay v.v
I’ve also never tried to do a reading before, do you have to be…. special?

@James: You might have some luck if you have a local anime store, or if you’re somewhere near the vicinity of San Francisco.
@Hayley: I’d recommend maybe getting some card stock to print them on if your printer can handle it. You *can* use playing cards as a substitute, so I don’t think you have to have the official ones–they’re just higher quality.
I don’t think you need to be “special” or “magical” to do Clow Card readings. Learning how to read cards is like learning how to ride a bicycle. You just need a bit of practice.
We all have the capability to be mediums; others are just more gifted in that sense and don’t have to work too hard at mastering it. The rest of us are still learning to access it.
Enough of my gabbing though… Try it out and see if you like it. ^^

I printed them out (although the back wouldn’t download for me, so all my cards still have white backs xP ) and tried my first reading x3
Went for the compatability test and ended up with The Storm(left) and The Through(right), and after reading the meanings, it actually makes a lot of sense to me >.<;
